長い間中高で英語を教えてきましたが、今一度学び直したい思いに駆られ、英語教師である夫共々留学を決意しました。

ウーロンゴン大学のキャンパスは緑溢れる心和む環境です。修士課程では、優れた講師陣による理論と実践の両面から学ぶことができ、より深い視座を与えてもらったと感じています。また、始めたばかりですが、博士課程で更に研究をしていく機会に恵まれたのも、修士課程で学んだことで特定のテーマについてもっと深めたいという欲求が出て来たことと先生方の的確で親身な指導があったからだと言えるでしょう。

TESOLに関連した学際的なセミナーなども充実しており、アジアをはじめ世界各国からの英語を学ぶこと教えることに対する違った価値観を持った学生たちとの交流もよい経験になります。留学生への学習面・生活面でのサポート体制も整っています。近い将来、教える仕事に再び戻れることを願っています。

私はOLとして充実した日々を過ごしていましたが、一度は忘れかけていた小学校の頃からの『教師になる』『留学する』という夢を実現させるために、ウーロンゴン大学のTESOLコースに進学しました。
中高と英語で苦労した私にとって、理論的に第二言語習得の過程を学び、さらに実践面では教育実習で、地元の小学校で難民として移住してきたアフリカの子供たちに英語を教えたことは、大変有益な知識や経験となりました。
またクラスメートはネイティブも留学生も英語教師が多く、英語教授の経験がない私にとっては、彼らの英語教育に対する姿勢は、非常に参考になります。
ウーロンゴンは自然に恵まれ、シドニーにも比較的近い美しい町です。将来はこの大学で学んだことを生かし、特に英語を苦手とする学生を助けていきたいです。

Studying TESOL at UOW has been great experience. The course is well organised, and teachers are all experienced and helpful. They always try to make class fun and more productive. I liked all classes often have group discussion time, which was a great opportunity for me to learn about other people’s teaching experience and share opinions with them. I learned a lot from these class discussions.

The course is enjoyable and assists us to study more actively rather than just being passive, but at the same time I had to work on study very hard. Thanks to teachers and classmates, I could complete the course. They were always there to help me.

It was amazing when I realized I have achieved so many things during the course. I could enhance knowledge of English education as well as English language itself. I am sure that my experience at UOW will be useful for my future career.
